Learn network automation

A path in five levels. The first two are free, with no sign-up: network automation fundamentals, independent of any product, and Oktavia Fundamentals, how closed-loop automation works on a real platform. Above them, the Oktavia Associate and Professional certifications, with a lab and an assessment, and at the top the Oktavia Architect certification. The courses are currently available in Spanish.

The path

  1. Oktavia Architect certificationDesign and deliver turnkey network automation
  2. Oktavia Professional certificationConfigure in depth, automate and integrate
  3. Oktavia Associate certificationInstall, bring up and operate
  4. Oktavia FundamentalsFree · How it works and what the business gains
  5. Network automation fundamentalsFree · The core technologies, no product

Oktavia documentation · Technical portal

For engineers who operate or deploy the platform: installation and per-module guides, Engine and UI API reference, field tables for inventory, intent and compliance, vendor integrations and decision guides. Organized by task, with search. Currently published in Spanish; the English edition is in preparation.

Level 1 · Network automation fundamentals · Free

The course to get started, independent of any product: CLI, SNMP, APIs, NETCONF, RESTCONF and gNMI; YANG and Jinja2 templates; Python with Netmiko, NAPALM and Nornir; Ansible; source of truth, validation and CI; telemetry; automation in enterprise, data center, service provider and cloud; scripts versus platforms; best practices; AI and AI agents. Fourteen modules, code exercises and an interactive exam.

Level 2 · Oktavia Fundamentals · Free

For engineers, managers, security teams and anyone evaluating the platform: the closed loop, where Oktavia fits among the tools you already have, how it works, its concepts, multi-vendor, Argos and AI, platform security, what the business gains and how it is adopted. Ten modules and an interactive exam.

Level 3 · Oktavia Associate certification: install, bring up and operate

For the engineer who installs Oktavia in a customer's infrastructure and runs it day to day. Nine modules and seven labs:

  • Platform architecture and container-based installation.
  • Bring-up: organizations, users, sites, inventory, credentials and the first audit.
  • Daily operation, job scheduling and reading compliance.
  • Closing the loop with Argos and from the digital twin.
  • Argos for the operator.
  • Maintenance, backup, upgrades and platform troubleshooting.

Certification: the course, its exam and a remote lab practical assessed by an Oktanet engineer. For partners and customer teams.

Level 4 · Oktavia Professional certification: configure in depth, automate and integrate

For the engineer who designs the intent of a whole network, adapts it and automates it. Requires the Associate certification.

  • Declared intent in depth: scopes, precedence, service catalog and per-vendor templates.
  • Configuration and state compliance rules.
  • The digital twin per vendor: Cisco, FortiGate, FortiSwitch, Junos and Meraki.
  • Adapting the network architecture with and without Argos.
  • Automating the Configurator intent.
  • Network security, telemetry and event automation.
  • Corporate identity and access control.
  • AI in Oktavia: providers, local mode, cost and correlation.
  • Network troubleshooting with Oktavia and with AI.
  • Automating and orchestrating Oktavia with its API, Python and Ansible.
  • Integration with sources of truth, monitoring, ticketing and security tools.

Certification: the course, its exam and a remote lab practical assessed by an Oktanet engineer.

Level 5 · Oktavia Architect certification: design and deliver turnkey

The top of the path: designing and delivering the automation of a whole network, turnkey. For whoever leads automation projects at a customer or a partner. Requires the Professional certification.

  • Solution design: network assessment, the intent and scope model for the whole organization, and the order in which to automate.
  • Deployment architecture: high availability, multi-organization operation, security and corporate identity.
  • Ecosystem integration: source of truth, service desk, monitoring, CI/CD pipelines and the Oktavia API.
  • AI-assisted development (vibe coding): extensions, integrations, templates and agents built with AI on the Oktavia API, with review, testing and control.
  • AI agents on the network: designing them with Oktavia tools over MCP, and their safeguards.
  • Governance and adoption: change process, approvals, return metrics, and taking a customer from manual operation to the closed loop.
  • Capstone: a turnkey delivery on a multi-vendor lab, presented and defended before Oktanet.

Certification: the course and a capstone project on the multi-vendor lab, presented and defended before an Oktanet engineer. For partners and customer teams.
